During 2006-2007 we have organised a series of events in Settle and District under the banner of "It's 4 U"

The penultimate of these events is an Alpha Supper on 16 Sept 2007, which leads into an Alpha Course run jointly by Churches in Settle. Read more about Settle Alpha

The final event is a CELEBRATION on Sat 22 Sept.

Sat 22 Sept 4pm St John’s Hall

Its4U Celebration - the Guest Speaker will be Rev David Emison, Chair of the Cumbria Methodist District. Editor of Presence - a handbook about Christian Presence in Rural Areas

There will also be SHORT musical items, sketches, etc contributed by representatives from different churches in Settle and District. This will be followed by a Jacobs Join LOAF tea. Jacob's Join means bring an item to contribute (but don't worry if you don't, there's always masses of food)

LOAF means the item brought should be one (or more) of the following:

- Local - or
- Organically grown - or
- Animal Friendly - or
- Fairly Traded

We already meet for prayer -

  • between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. (come and go as you please) on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, in the Choir Vestry at St. John's Methodist Church
  • at 7.30p.m. on the last Friday of the month, in the Parish Rooms at Giggleswick.

You will find a welcome at St. John's Methodist Church between 10.0 a.m. and 4.0 p.m. from 19th - 23rd December.

If you just want a quiet space in which to chill out or spend a few minutes thinking about the real meaning of Christmas, you will find it here.

If you would like a cup of tea or coffee, or even a listening ear, people from churches in the area will be on hand, as part of the 'It's 4U' programme (a series of events arranged for the local community by churches in the Settle Area).

Settle Parish Church and St. Alkelda's, Giggleswick will also be open during daylight hours, as usual.

NISCU (Northern Inter-School Christian Union) clubs: email
Niscu Craven is part of a larger charitable organisation working in Cumbria, North Lancashire and the Craven area of North Yorkshire. The work involves visiting local schools and delivering assemblies, running lunch clubs and taking lessons. Running alongside this is a residential programme and one off youth events and activities. Niscu Craven is funded by local churches and individuals in the area.
