Friday 26th Jan
7.30 p.m.
British Orchids and other wildlife An illustrated talk by John Osborne, English Nature, at Linton Court Gallery. Members free, non-members £ 1.
Sunday 4th February
10 a.m.
Tree-planting work at English Nature's National Nature Reserve at / near Colt Park Wood which is on the flank of Ingleborough. As parking is limited at Colt Park Wood please meet at Settle swimming pool at 10am. Details
Sunday 11th February,
9 15 a.m. .
Trip to Martin Mere WWT Reserve Joint event with Kirkby Lonsdale & District WATCH Group. Entrance œ4 (WWT members free with card). Bring warm clothes, waterproofs, boots and packed lunch. Meet at Settle Swimming Pool, or at Westhouse near Ingleton, at 9.15 a.m., to share transport. Contact Liz Neale on 015242 41155 for details..

Members' Evening: slides, books, quiz. At Linton Court Gallery. Bring a dozen of your slides and/or a favourite natural history book..

Noon - 4pm

English Nature
Conservation working parties in Craven Conservation Group local area:
Sundays 4th Feb, 4th March, 1st April Wednesdays 14th Feb, 14th March. On Sundays meet at Settle Swimming Pool at 10 a.m.; on Wednesdays meet at Settle Swimming Pool 9.30 a.m. or at Colt Park (grid ref SD 773 778) at 10 a.m. The 4th February task will be raking at Lord's Pasture, 14th Feb and 14th March probably tree planting on South House Moor; the others to be advised. Kirkby Lonsdale and District Watch Group
This is for children interested in Natural History. Families are also very welcome.

Sunday 11th March 10.30 a.m. Rockwatch visit to Kingsdale 3 mile walk taking in limestone and ice-age geology, the North Craven Fault and Yordas cave, led by Roger Neale. Bring torch, hat, wellingtons (and walking boots?), waterproof and lunch. Meet Westhouse, near Ingleton; phone 015242 41155 for directions.

Yorkshire Dales National Park Guided Walks and guided walks of other organisations.
Guided Walks in the the Yorkshire Dales, on various natural history topics. Run by the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Events for Summer 2001 (well this link should work shortly.. it may still lead you to 2000''s walks) Although aimed primarily for tourists, These are very good value for money for locals too.. and we don't have to travel far to get to the walks.
Natural History and other courses at Malham Tarn Field Centre.(e.g Grasses, algae, mosses, moths, and many others). Malham is 7 miles from Settle. It is usually possible to attend these courses as a day student. Highly Recommended as a holiday. See Also Courses at Kindrogan Field Centre in Scotland
Plantlife
There will be thistle bashing events and a guided wildflower walk at Plantlife's Reserve at Winskill Stone, Langcliffe this summer
