Day of Prayer on Climate Change and the Environment

to be held at St John's Methodist Church, Settle, BD24 9JQ
4 October 12-00-18.00

 

In the morning services of many of the churches in Settle and surroundings at least one of the prayers from the Day of Prayer set of prayers will be read

PROGRAMME

12-12.30

Introductory Prayer at 12 midday by Rev David Briggs.
Then CD/read set prayers with pauses in between for meditation.

During the rest of the day for each session, there is the option of continuing with these prayers or taking part in the organised activity.

Low carbon lunch - hot soup and rolls
1- 1.30
"Stations of the Forest " DVD slides- Excellent Catholic presentation on fate of rainforest.
1.30-2.00

Something from Anglicans - Shrinking the Footprint - And/or other denomination.

A period of silent worship after the manner of Quakers interspersed with readings from a leaflet " A Quaker response to Climate Change" and other appropriate Quaker readings

Settle and Giggleswick part of Churches Together Prayer Walk including the Wheelchair-friendly new footpath by river ; or stay in church.

Green Songs / Hymns- Judith has good collection

Reading of Children's Prayers. (We intend to invite the local schools to contribute)

Cup of Tea - plus snack food labelled with green information. Local contributions welcome.

Prayers for Local things. Bring your suggestions.

CD/read set prayers and closing prayer.

The Library of books of Eco-nite which is normally housed in Settle Parish Church will be on display here for the day.
