Jan 1821 Mr William Armitstead came to the Castle.
Tue Jan. 16th.  1821 Mr Wright went this morning in Thorpes Chase to Lancaster on the Whitray cause, Mr William Armitstead went with him on his return from Chester.
Wed Jan. 24th. I went to Mr Bleasdales upon an alteration to be made in William Robinson Will.  I called at Wennington Mill and at Tatham Pit.  Mr King and Mr Armitstead of Authwick(sic) came a coursing but not having previously obtained Mr Wrights leave they returned.

N Armitstead paid his tithe of wool etc in 1821 (fir which he???) due to Mr Lister.

Mon June 4th. 1821
I went to the Lodge Barn this morning and set out the foundation of a house to be built there.  John Turner began scabbing stones and George Armitstead to rid the foundations.
Sat July 21st. 1821
Looked out some wood for some windows in Robert Metcalfe's House to be made by William Thompson.  Mary was delivered of a girl, (afterwards baptised Mary) about 7 o'clock p.m. by Mr Armitstead of Hornby.

Tue July 24th.
I made out an account between Mr Wright and his son J M Wright which was settled and signed by them and witnessed by me.  Miss Whaley of Camphouse was today buried at Horton(sic).  Miss Jane Wright the two Miss Procters and Dr Armitstead attended the funeral. Leo Willan buried today.

Thur Aug. 9th. 1821
I wen to Snab in the forenoon and thence to William Holmes and Storrs Hall.  Mrs Armitstead and Mrs Rainforth drank tea at our house. 

Sun Aug. 19th. 1821
Cut out some burnt hay in the Cow Scuffolds(sic).  The Reverend William Armitstead read prayers in the forenoon and preached in the afternoon at Hornby Chapel.

Sat Sept. 1st 1821. George Armitsteads fetched from William Carrs, Park House a tin pan tub, 2 brine pots, a wood dish and an ark.
Wed Oct. 10th. 1821
I went to Snab in the morning to superintend the slating of the new barn etc.  George Armitstead and Robert Armitstead nutting.  Richard Hurst of Gressingham Hall died.  Lancaster Fair.

Thur Oct. 18th. 1821
George Armitstead began thatching Brotherton's Cottages.  E Knowles began finding timbers for Smearhaw.  I went to Snab in the afternoon.
Tue Nov. 13th. 1821 Labourers at the Hothouse.  Painted the Stable Doors etc.  Robert Armitstead of Gressingham died of Small Pox.
Mon Dec. 3rd. 1821 Richard Wilkinson called.  William Armitstead of Tenant House, George Banks called and his accounts were settled.  Reverend Mr Hodgson called.
Tuesday January 1st 1822.
A meeting held at the Castle Inn of the Commissioners of the Turnpike Road to let the Tolls.  Reverend Thomas Armitstead came to the Castle in Mr Wright's Gig, R Cornthwaite having gone for him this morning.
Thur Jan. 3rd. 1822
Mr Wright and Mr Armitstead and Co shooting at Camphouse.  Mr Armitstead, surgeon, bled Mary for a swelled face and pain in the head.
Sun Jan. 6th.  The Reverend T Armitstead said prayers and preached forenoon and after at Hornby Chapel.
Thur Jan. 10th. 1822
Mr Wright and Miss Wright went in the carriage to Lancaster and returned to dinner, Reverend J Armitstead went with them on his return from Chester.
Sat Mar 23rd..1822
Serj (?) Cross opened  the Commission for holding the Assize at Lancaster. Armitstead of Clapham was yesterday convicted at York of uttering drafts knowing then to be forged and sentenced to Death.
Thur April 25th. 1822
William Proctor witnessed Mr Marsdens signature to his contract for compounding.  Let a house at Cross Green, Graystone Gill, Bentham to Thomas Armitstead of Mewith.
Mon May 6th. 1822
William Armitstead of Tennant House called for some glass for windows  for the House at Graystone Gill purchased of Barkers Assignees, John Brayshaw called along with him and took the erecting of a wall on Barkers Allotment.
Wed May 8th.
Sent Mr Dowbiggin 12 lbs of Swedish Turnip Seed per Post.  I went to Melling Quarry to see Robert Gibson and George Armitstead getting stones for arching the cellar at Raw Ridding House.
Tue May 21st.
I went with Mr Dowbiggin and Mr Hudson, attended meetings at Wray, Tatham and Wennington for joining with Caton at their Poor House, only opposition was at Tatham by Anthony Downham and Hugh Armitstead.
Sat July 6th. 1822
Eleazar Towlers leg (broken on the 29th June good vide) taken off this day at Eccles, Farleton by Mr Armitstead in the presence of Mr Sellers, Mr Wildman and their two apprentices.  John Hodgson collier called.
Mon Aug. 5th.
I went to Kellet in the forenoon and measured part of a rid done there for a Lime Kiln by Woodhouse and Towers.  In the afternoon I went to Caton Workhouse for which we signed the lease, Mr Armitstead (Mr Dowbiggins Clerk) was there.  Thomas Bouskill called.
