Visit a number of sites with Adrian Norris and discover the remarkable range of molluscs in the area. Adrian Norris is the County Recorder for Molluscs for Yorkshire. He was formerly the Senior Curator for the Natural Science Leeds Museums. Attend the workshop at St John's Methodist Church Hall, where we can spread out our finds. Bring strong shoes or hiking boots.

Beforehand: Look for molluscs in your garden and elsewhere, to bring to the meeting.

Children and grown-ups welcome.

1.30pm - 2.30pm: Workshop at St John's Methodist Church Hall SD 817 639

2.30pm: Short trip to another location (probably Giggleswick Scar area).

If you cannot come to the meeting but have a selection of snails from your garden or elsewhere that you can contribute to the workshop, please contact Judith Allinson beforehand, 01729 822138.

Molluscs can be kept for two or three days in a plastic bag provided that there is lots of air in the bag - put some moss in the bag to hold the air, and stop the bag from collapsing. Make sure the bag is

  1. not too damp and
  2. not too dry and

CCg
members: Have you filled in your Parish Mapping Forms yet? Download a form here. Even if those of us on email send in just three records each, that would give well over 100 records.

There are forms for flowers, birds, mammals and habitats: bluebells, ivy covered walls, short eared owls...

Terry Whitaker would like to receive butterfly and moth records for this part of Yorkshire VC64 and VC65. Non members are very welcome to contribute results too. See the Yorkshire butterfly distribution map that the records contribute to.
